Dear Reader,
This October, our press begins a new chapter. As we compiled our ideas for this organization, we agreed that we wanted to offer several avenues for publication for our writers. So this month, we close our submissions to The Core Review, and begin accepting work for the first-ever The Slice Poetry Chapbook Contest.
This shift coincides with autumn. We’re thinking about transitions—transitions from one submission period to another, but also transitions in a larger sense. We’re finding ourselves similarly interested in works that consider these fluctuations in the self and the world around us.
The chapbook itself demonstrates this movement—the progression from a singular poem to a larger body of work. This offers opportunities for both brevity and expansion, inviting writers to find their footing in the in-between.
We can’t wait to read what you come up with!
Sincerely,
Vivian Walman-Randall
