The Fork Apple Press Newsletter - September 2024

Dear Reader,

September is often thought of as a time where things begin to die. As autumn’s sharp teeth begin the burrow into the warmth of summer, I often feel that a reflective nostalgia takes place in me. But alongside that, I also find a sort of energy, as if the natural die-off of things that have served their course is opening space for new colors and textures, and a different way of seeing the world.

Going into this September, I’m struck by the unexpected newness of the autumn, and the ways that the things that have come before have led me to this project and this press, the people I’m building it with, and to you, our readership. I’m curious to see what will become of this season and the seasons that follow, as this press grows, as we read new voices and build new publications, and as we continue to find our footing in the literary world. I’m so grateful you’re here with us from the start, to grow alongside us. I get the feeling it’s going to be deliciously unexpected, in the way new things always are.

Sincerely,

Vivian Walman-Randall
